Fall 2011
Dear Parents,
Throughout the history of Catholic education, parents have played an important role in supporting schools through their volunteer efforts. Brother Rice High School depends on hundreds of volunteers to support the many school events, service projects, religious programs, fundraising activities and support functions of the school. Your time and talents are valuable assets that will help us build community and contribute to the proud tradition of Brother Rice.
As I announced in June, Brother Rice is launching a new volunteer program during this coming year, “We band together to support the mission of Brother Rice” – much like a “Band of Parents.” We ask each family to volunteer at least 10 hours of service to Brother Rice each year. We know that many parents already far exceed 10 hours of volunteer service to the school, but we hope that all of you will join in and get involved in the Brother Rice community. Your volunteer efforts will not only help the school, but will provide you with an opportunity to meet other parents. Through your volunteer efforts, we encourage you to support both athletic and non-athletic events. All families who volunteer at least 10 hours per year will be recognized in the Honor Roll of Investors annual publication.
Included above are surveys detailing many volunteer opportunities provided through the Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs, the annual auction, and school support functions.
Sign-ups for volunteers to support our athletic teams and events will take place through each sports team. Throughout the year, we will communicate additional volunteer opportunities as they arise, using the daily announcements.
You will be contacted via email regarding the events for which you have volunteered. We are developing the means to track volunteer hours, and working on reporting tools that will allow families to monitor their hours; more information on those will be available this fall.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of Catholic education, and of the Brother Rice community.
